About Scotch Plains
Some suburban Scotch Plains residents make their home in
sophisticated upscale Townhomes, while others opt for unique
single family residences. Some enjoy the ambiance of 1 acre
properties in manicured neighborhoods; others experience the
romance of country farm living.
In fact, the "country-living" setting is never more evident than
in Scotch Plains, on Westfield's western border, especially on
the south side with its meandering, sun-dappled roads and parks,
and large homes on ½ and 1 acre properties.
And while the serenity is soothing to many NYC commuters who
make their home here, the vitality of Scotch Plains residents
parades itself in their passionate involvement in their
children's development -- with most sitting on school committees
and hosting fund-raisers -- giving rise to well-regarded schools
(shared with Fanwood) and resulting in stellar school rankings.
But it's never "all work and no play" for Scotch Plains adults
and children. Concerts, a holiday hayride and walking tours are
just a few of the community-sponsored events that bring Scotch
Plains' residents out for a convivial day or evening of fun.
With nearly 23,000 residents, Scotch Plains is home to 3 golf
courses, and 8 parks boasting playgrounds, tennis courts,
baseball and basketball.
Newcomers are especially thrilled with the YMCA -- also shared
with Fanwood -- which offers basketball, volleyball, Tae Kwon
Do, gymnastics, an indoor pool, swim lessons and swim teams, and
most important, a forum for meeting their new neighbors. And the
very active JCC adds to the general feeling of "community."
Scotch Plains’ Stagecoach Inn (circa 1737), a destination for
those who admire a bygone era, is located at Park and Front,
across from the town square, right in the middle of Scotch
Plains town center, which boasts the charm of an historic
antique village combined with upscale restaurants and specialty
shops. One of the things we all enjoy is meeting for lunch at
the town center and then shopping with friends for unique gifts.
Scotch Plains’ thriving business center, great restaurants,
unique shops, exceptional schools and easy access to NYC trains,
make Scotch Plains the community of choice for many looking for
a beautiful home on a sprawling park-like property.
Some background and other facts
Scotch Plains' approximately 22,700 residents make their home on
9.6 square miles of lovely tree-lined streets and roads. The
township boasts outstanding schools and many fine shops. Scotch
Plains famous Stage House restaurant is ranked among the best in
the state, and Pantageis Renaissance has been the perfect
setting for weddings for more than 20 years.
In short, Scotch Plains enjoys an enviable reputation as a
wonderful place to raise a family, where that "hometown feel"
permeates every corner — and you're only a few minutes from the
